Our Story
2009
The beginning of our journey. Brendan Finnegan hosts his very first group drumming sessions and begins to shape the vision that will become Impact Group Drumming.
Brendan founds Your World Drum Circles, blending his passion for rhythm, and community.
2013
2014
Outreach to senior centers, and day programs leads to a packed schedule. The company grows through word-of-mouth, becoming a trusted provider of drumming programs for seniors and individuals with developmental disabilities.
The pandemic hits, programming moves virtual. Brendan begins graduate studies in social work while clients ask to resume in-person programming post-lockdown. The company expands with its first additional hires.

Now operating with two active facilitators and dedicated admin support, the business balances steady demand with Brendan’s growing work as a therapist.
Impact Group Drumming expands! Building on our vision to provide service, the company invests in our team and curriculums, honing our facilitators’ expertise and utilizing Brendan’s skills as a mental health professional.

A Note from Our Founder
In 2009, a casual invitation led me to facilitate my first group drumming session with the aging. I felt a surge of excitement different from other musical experiences. Later, I would understand this as a desire for connection – at the intersection of rhythm, and empowerment – and I’ve been seeking it for 15 years. Every time we have a chance to facilitate, whether for 6, or 150, we have an opportunity to empower each participant and offer them a musical bid for connection. Impact Group Drumming is born out of the idea that each participant at every session is an opportunity to create one hour of impact in the life of another. Our goal is to reach a million hours, and as of the end of 2024, we’re a fifth of the way there. I’m grateful to those who have trusted and supported us along the way, and I look forward to connecting and drumming with you!
